PCB Toolsets
Basic 25 pcs · Standard 50 pcs · Professional 50 pcs + FR4 substrates · Solid-carbide PCB tooling
Product detailed description
Ready-to-use solid-carbide tooling sets for PCB prototyping, laboratory work and routine in-house PCB fabrication.
MIPEC PCB Toolsets combine the main cutting tools required for mechanical PCB prototyping into practical pre-selected sets. Instead of choosing every cutter, endmill, router and drill individually, select the configuration that best matches your expected workload.
Three configurations are available: Basic 25 pcs, Standard 50 pcs and Professional, which combines the same 50-piece tooling configuration as the Standard Toolset with PCB substrates and supporting materials.
One Set for the Main PCB Machining Operations
Mechanical PCB prototyping requires several different tool types because isolation milling, surface removal, drilling and contour routing are different machining operations.
MIPEC Toolsets combine representative tools from these main groups into one package, providing a practical starting stock for prototype production and laboratory work.
Tooling Without Guesswork
The sets combine commonly used isolation cutters, flat endmills, contour routers and drill diameters so that a PCB prototyping workstation can be equipped without selecting every tool individually.
Choose the Toolset for Your Workflow
25-Piece Toolset
A compact tooling package covering the main operations required for standard PCB prototyping.
Suitable as a starter set or for laboratories with moderate tooling consumption.
50-Piece Toolset
A larger tooling stock with both standard and fine isolation cutters and more replacement tools for commonly used operations.
Suitable for regular laboratory use and repeated PCB prototyping.
Standard Toolset + Materials
The same 50-piece tooling configuration as the Standard Toolset, supplemented with FR4 copper clads, drill underlay sheets and cleaning pads.
Suitable when both tooling and an initial stock of PCB materials are required.
Basic Toolset – 25 pcs
The Basic Toolset provides a compact selection of tools for isolation milling, surface machining, drilling and contour routing.
| Isolation milling tools | 5 × Normal / Universal cutters for approx. 0.2–0.5 mm isolation |
|---|---|
| Contour routers | 1 × 1.0 mm 2 × 2.0 mm |
| Flat endmills | 2 × 1.0 mm 1 × 2.0 mm |
| Microdrills 0.6–1.0 mm | 2 × each diameter: 0.6 / 0.7 / 0.8 / 0.9 / 1.0 mm |
| Additional microdrills | 1 × 1.3 mm 1 × 1.5 mm 1 × 2.0 mm 1 × 3.0 mm |
| PCB materials | Not included |
Standard Toolset – 50 pcs
The Standard Toolset expands the tooling stock for regular prototyping and includes both Normal Line and Fine Line isolation milling tools.
| Normal isolation cutters | 5 pcs for approx. 0.2–0.5 mm isolation |
|---|---|
| Fine isolation cutters | 5 pcs for fine isolation milling |
| Contour routers | 2 × 1.0 mm 2 × 2.0 mm |
| Flat endmills | 2 × 1.0 mm 2 × 2.0 mm |
| Microdrills 0.6–1.0 mm | 5 × each diameter: 0.6 / 0.7 / 0.8 / 0.9 / 1.0 mm |
| Additional microdrills | 2 × 1.3 mm 2 × 1.5 mm 1 × 2.0 mm 2 × 3.0 mm |
| PCB materials | Not included |
Professional Toolset – Standard Toolset + Materials
The Professional Toolset contains the same 50-piece tooling configuration as the Standard Toolset and adds PCB substrates and supporting materials for in-house prototype production.
This makes it a practical choice for laboratories that want both the complete Standard tooling selection and an initial stock of materials for PCB fabrication.
| PCB tooling | Same 50-piece tooling configuration as the Standard Toolset |
|---|---|
| FR4 copper clads | 20 × A5 format total 10 × single-sided + 10 × double-sided |
| Drill underlay sheets | 10 × A5 format |
| Cleaning pads | 2 pcs |
Why Does a Toolset Include Different Tool Types?
No single cutting tool performs every PCB machining operation. Each tool geometry has a different role in the mechanical PCB fabrication process.
V-shaped cutters create electrical isolation, flat endmills remove larger surface areas, microdrills create circular holes and contour routers cut through the material to produce board outlines, slots and internal cut-outs.
36 mm + 38 mm Tools
Surface-machining tools such as isolation cutters and flat endmills use the 36 mm format.
Microdrills and contour routers that pass completely through the material use the 38 mm format.
Tool Life Depends on the Application
PCB cutting tools are consumables, but there is no universal number of PCBs that determines when a tool needs to be replaced.
Practical tool life depends on the material, tool diameter, cutting depth, machining parameters and the total amount of milling or drilling performed.
A tool should be replaced when wear begins to affect the required machining quality rather than only after physical breakage.
Why Keep Replacement Tools Available?
Regular PCB prototyping consumes some tool types and diameters faster than others. The larger Standard and Professional sets therefore provide a broader stock of frequently used tools.
Materials Beyond Standard FR4
Solid-carbide tooling is not restricted to standard FR4. Carbide tools are also used for other PCB laminate systems and, with appropriate cutting geometry, for additional engineering materials.
The important consideration is not simply whether a material can be machined with carbide, but whether the selected tool geometry and machining parameters are appropriate for that particular material.
One Carbide Tool Does Not Fit Every Material
FR4, PTFE-based laminates, ceramic-filled PCB materials and aluminium have different machining characteristics.
Tool geometry, spindle speed, feed rate and cutting depth should therefore be selected according to the actual material being processed.
Which Toolset Should I Choose?
| Basic – 25 pcs | Choose for initial PCB prototyping, moderate tool consumption or as a compact starter tooling package. |
|---|---|
| Standard – 50 pcs | Choose for regular laboratory use, finer isolation work and a larger stock of commonly used replacement tools. |
| Professional | Choose when you want the complete Standard 50-piece tooling configuration together with FR4 copper clads, drill underlay sheets and cleaning materials. |
Part of PCB Milling & Drilling
MIPEC Toolsets provide cutting tools for the main mechanical PCB fabrication operations: isolation milling, surface removal, drilling and contour routing.
Need Individual Replacement Tools?
Isolation milling tools, flat endmills, microdrills and contour routers are also available separately when a specific geometry or diameter needs to be replenished.
